Amish Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe
- 3 c. Flour
- 1/4 c. Instant lowfat dry lowfat milk (I Used nonfat)
- 1 Tbsp. Baking pwdr
- 2 Tbsp. Sugar (I used less)
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2 tsp Cream of tartar
- 1/2 c. Cool butter in pcs
- 1/2 c. Cool lard
- 14 Tbsp. Cool buttermilk
- Pulse the dry ingredients with the butter and lard till grainy, NOT blended!
- Add in the cool buttermilk, and mix till the dough comes together.
- Place dough on a floured cloth or possibly marble slab, and knead a few times with floured hands.
- (Keep the dough cool!)
- Pat or possibly roll out to 3/4-inch thick, and cut out biscuit rounds or possibly shapes.
- (You can use a cookie cutter!)
- These biscuits can be frzn ahead, or possibly baked immediately.
- Baking Time: Bake at 400 degrees F for 13-15 min if fresh, and 15-18 min if frzn.
