Beef Cubes, Sauerbraten Style Recipe

  1. Brown meat and onion in butter.
  2. Add in salt, vinegar, water, bay leaves and cloves.
  3. Cover and simmer about 2 hrs till tender.
  4. Add in Ginger snaps and bring to a boil.
  5. Add in a little more water if necessary to make gravy of right consistency.
  6. Makes 4-5 servings.
  7. May chill at this point for a few days.
  8. Then skim off the hardened fat on top before heating and adding the Ginger snaps.
  9. Have found this method to be best.
  10. It improves the flavor.
