Frosted Cherry Nut Bars

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugars.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Beat in vanilla.
  4. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.
  5. Stir in nuts, cherries and chocolate chips.
  6. Spread into a greased 15-in.
  7. x 10-in.
  8. x 1-in.
  9. baking pan.
  10. Bake at 325 degrees F for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Frosting:
  12. Meanwhile, in a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter until golden brown, about 7 minutes.
  13. Add milk and vanilla.
  14. Remove from the heat; beat in confectioners' sugar until smooth.
  15. Frost warm bars.
  16. Cool on a wire rack before cutting.
