Apple Cake W/ Cream Cheese Frosting

  1. Stir together first 4 ingredients in a large bowl until well blended.
  2. Combine flour and next 3 ingredients.
  3. Add dry mixture to the butter mixture, stirring until blended.
  4. The mixture will be very thick.
  5. Stir in apple slices.
  6. It hardly seems like enough batter to coat the apples, but bakes up beautifully.
  7. Spread batter into greased 9x13 pan and bake at 350 for 45 minutes.
  8. For the frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until creamy.
  9. Gradually add sugar and salt, beat well.
  10. Stir in vanilla and frost the cooled cake.
