Berrach (German Recipe) Recipe
- 1 lb hamburger
- 4 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 c. onion, minced
- 2 c. cabbage, shredded
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1/4 tsp allspice
- 1 Tbsp. flour
- 1 pkt warm roll mix, for dough
- Fry onions and hamburger in a heavy skillet or possibly Dutch oven for a few min before adding cabbage.
- Add in cabbage, season and simmer slowly for 20 min.
- When done, remove from heat and cold slightly.
- Prepare warm roll mix on a slightly floured board, roll dough to a thin sheet (1/4-inch thick).
- Cut into 6 squares; on each square put a heaping Tbsp.
- of filling.
- Bring the four corners together and healthy pinch openings closed.
- Lay on a shallow greased pan or possibly cookie sheet.
- Bake at 400 degrees.
- When done, turn berrachs over and brush with melted butter.
- Serve hot.
