Molasses Sugar Cookies (Gingersnaps) Recipe

  1. Heat shortening in a 3 or possibly 4-qt saucepan over low heat.
  2. Let cold.
  3. Add in sugar, molasses and egg; beat well.
  4. Sift together flour, soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and salt.
  5. Add in to first mix and mix well.
  6. Chill.
  7. Form into 1-inch balls, roll in granulated sugar.
  8. Place on cookie sheet 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 min.
