Molasses Sugar Cookies (Gingersnaps) Recipe
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Heat shortening in a 3 or possibly 4-qt saucepan over low heat.
- Let cold.
- Add in sugar, molasses and egg; beat well.
- Sift together flour, soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and salt.
- Add in to first mix and mix well.
- Chill.
- Form into 1-inch balls, roll in granulated sugar.
- Place on cookie sheet 2 inches apart.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 min.
