Granny's Beef Stew Recipe

  1. Mix flour, 1/2 tsp.
  2. salt and pepper.
  3. Coat meat with mix.
  4. Heat shortening in large skillet; brown meat thoroughly.
  5. Add in water; heat to boiling.
  6. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 2 hrs.
  7. Stir in remaining ingredients.
  8. Simmer 30 min or possibly till vegetables are tender.
  9. If you like, thicken stew.
  10. In covered jar, shake 1 c. cool water and 2 to 4 Tbsp.
  11. flour till blended.
  12. Stir into stew; heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
  13. Boil and stir 1 minute.
  14. 6 servings.
