Syrupy and Warming- Hot Brown Sugar and Ginger Drink

  1. Use small teacups or mugs.
  2. Add about 1 heaping teaspoon of katakuriko.
  3. 2 heaping teaspoons become thick like Step 7.
  4. 3 heaping teaspoons results in a sticky mixture.
  5. Add brown sugar and ginger.
  6. Add the water and dissolve.
  7. Add the boiling water and mix with a spoon.
  8. You may be concerned that it won't thicken at this point.
  9. Don't worry, it will.
  10. Mix well for 10 seconds, and it will thicken and become syrupy.
  11. Done!
  12. If it doesn't thicken though, microwave for 30 seconds until it become syrupy.
  13. If you add 2 heaping teaspoons of katakuriko, it'll become thick enough to eat with a spoon.
  14. With 3 heaping teaspoons, it'll become like a hot ginger dessert.
