Red Pepper Asiago Gougere Bites

  1. Heat oven to 400F.
  2. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. Set aside.
  4. Place water and butter in heavy 2-quart saucepan.
  5. Cook over medium heat 6-8 minutes or until mixture comes to a full boil.
  6. Reduce heat to low; stir in flour and garlic salt vigorously until mixture leaves sides of pan and forms a ball.
  7. Remove from heat.
  8. Add 1 egg at a time, beating well after each addition, until mixture is smooth.
  9. Stir in cheese, bell pepper and basil.
  10. Immediately drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto prepared baking sheets.
  11. Bake 18-22 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. Serve warm.
  13. *Substitute 1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil leaves.
