Chocolate-Caramel Squares
- Base
- 2 cups flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 cup cold butter, cut into chunks
- Filling
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1 can (300 mL) sweetened condensed milk
- 4 Tbsp. light corn syrup
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- Topping
- 1 pkg. (170 g) Baker's Premium 70% Cacao Dark Chocolate
- 1/3 cup butter
- Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Base: Line 13x9-inch pan with parchment, with ends of parchment extending over sides.
- Process flour, sugar and cinnamon in food processor until blended.
- Add butter; pulse until mixture forms dough.
- Press onto bottom of prepared pan.
- Bake 15 to 20 min.
- or until lightly browned; cool.
- Meanwhile, prepare Filling.
- Filling: Bring ingredients to boil in saucepan on medium-high heat, whisking constantly; simmer on medium-low heat 5 min., stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat; pour over Base.
- Refrigerate 2 hours.
- or until firm.
- Topping: Microwave ingredients in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2 min.
- ; stir until chocolate is completely melted and mixture is well blended.
- Pour over Filling; tilt pan to evenly cover filling.
- Refrigerate 20 min.
- or until firm before cutting into squares.
