Easy Three-Bean Beef Stew
- 1 lb. beef cubed steaks, cut into 1 inch pieces
- 2 tbsp. butter
- margarine
- 1 can (1-3/4 lb.) whole tomatoes
- 1 can (10-3/4 oz.) condensed beef consumme
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup regular barley
- 1/4 cup frozen chopped onion
- 1-1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. dried marjoram leaves
- 1/4 tsp. dried thyme leaves
- 1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen baby lima beans, broken apart
- 1 pkg. (9 oz.) frozen Italian
- French style green
- Beans, broken apart
- 1 can (15 oz.) butter beans, drained
- 1/4 cup grated Romano cheese
- Brown cubed steak pieces in butter in Dutch oven over medium hat.
- Stir in tomatoes, with their liquid, consumme, water, barley, onion, salt, marjoram and thyme.
- heat to boiling, reduce heat.
- cover and simmer 50 min.
- Stir in lima beans and green beans.
- Heat to boiling.
- Reduce heat, cover and simmer 10 min.
- Stir in butter beans.
- Cover and simmer 10 min.
- Sprinkle each serving with cheese.
