Trial and Error Baked Onion Rings
- 1 large white onion
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup water
- 3 tablespoons cornmeal
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 teaspoons margarine
- 12 teaspoon powdered chipotle pepper
- 12 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- slice onion into 1/2 inch rings or petals of desired size.
- mix rest of ingredients other then margarine.
- dip onion bits, let excess drip off, and flash fry in margarine on med just until coating looks dry.
- work in batches.
- you can use less margarine if you're using a non-stick pan but it helps it cook up the sides a little.
- lay in a single layer in a lightly oiled cookie sheet, spray with a little olive oil or cooking spray and sprinkle with salt as desired.
- bake at 375f for 25 min or until crispy, turn once if bottoms getting too brown.
- serve at once with ketchup or creamy parmesan dip.
