Sauteed Asparagus with Shiro Dashi
- 5 stalks Asparagus
- 1 tsp Sake
- 1/2 tsp Shiro-dashi
- 1 Black pepper (or bonito flakes, if you prefer)
- 1 tsp Vegetable oil
- Rinse the asparagus, peel the outer skins, and cut the ends.
- In the above photo, I cut over 10 stalks into halves.
- Saute in vegetable oil until browned, then add sake and shiro dashi.
- Cover with a lid until they reach your desired tenderness, then sprinkle on some pepper and serve.
- Saute with pork, bacon, or sausage, and serve it up as a main dish.
- Add more shiro dashi if desired.
- This also works as a bento item.
