Sauteed Asparagus with Shiro Dashi

  1. Rinse the asparagus, peel the outer skins, and cut the ends.
  2. In the above photo, I cut over 10 stalks into halves.
  3. Saute in vegetable oil until browned, then add sake and shiro dashi.
  4. Cover with a lid until they reach your desired tenderness, then sprinkle on some pepper and serve.
  5. Saute with pork, bacon, or sausage, and serve it up as a main dish.
  6. Add more shiro dashi if desired.
  7. This also works as a bento item.
