Brie with Pecan Syrup

  1. Put pecans in a small saucepan over medium low heat to toast.
  2. Toast pecans for 2-3 minutes, careful not to burn.
  3. Once pecans are toasted, add the brown sugar and Kahlua to the pan with the pecans, mix until combined.
  4. Allow ingredients to melt over the heat, 2-3 minutes.
  5. Scrape top of wheel of brie with a fork, just to rough up the surface and remove some of the rind.
  6. Place brie into a lipped dish (like a pie plate), top with the pecan mixture.
  7. Microwave brie in 30 second increments until soft, but not oozing out (it usually takes me 3-4 30-second go-rounds in the microwave).
  8. Serve with crackers.
  9. (I like to serve with buttery crackers like Club Crackers, or with Plain Water Crackers)
  10. Tip for Taking to a Party: When I take this to a party, I take the brie, the dish, and the premade pecan mixture all separate.
  11. Then I assemble it at the party.
  12. It is fine to keep the pecan mixture at room temperature once it is made.
