Chili Cheese Dog Casserole ( Taste of Home Kid Cookbook )

  1. Preheat oven to 350*F.
  2. Prepare cornbread batter according to package directions then spread half of the batter into a greased 8 inch square baking dish and set aside
  3. In a large skillet , saute the green pepper, onion and celery in oil until crisp and tender.
  4. Stir in hot dogs; saute 3 to 4 minutes longer or until lightly browned.
  5. Stir in the chili, brown sugar, garlic powder in chili powder; heat through.
  6. Stir in half cup of cheese.
  7. Game over corn bread batter.
  8. Then top with remaining cornbread batter.
  9. Sprinkle remaining cheese over the top.
  10. Bake, uncovered, at 350F for 28 to 32 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  11. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
