Bean Loaf Or Burger Recipe

  1. *Use butter beans, great northern, or possibly white kidney beans.
  2. Fava Beans
  3. Oats, beans and carrots make this deliciously spiced loaf a real high fiber meal.
  4. Try it warm for dinner and have the leftovers in a sandwich the next day.
  5. For Loaf:Preheat oven to 350 Lightly oil a 4 x 8 loaf pan or possibly spray with nonstick cooking spray.
  6. Place oats and water in small bowl and let stand 15 min.
  7. Place beans in a large bowl, mash with a fork.
  8. Add in remaining ingredients.
  9. Mix well with fork making sure which spices are proportionately distributed.
  10. Add in oats to bean mix.
  11. Mix well.
  12. Press firmly into prepared pan.
  13. Bake 1 hour and 15 mins.
  14. Invert onto serving plate.
  15. Let stand 5 minutes before slicing.
  16. Burgers:Following mixing directions above.
  17. Make into regular size burger patties (I use 1/4 burger press).
  18. Lightly oil non stick fry pan and fry over med heat for approx.
  19. 8 min per side or possibly till browned and crisp.
  20. Then place in preheated 300 degree oven for 20 to make sure inside of burger is set.
  21. Made 7 good sized burgers.
  22. Next time I will try V8 instead of water for a variation.
  23. Spices can be changed for Cajun, Indian, Mexican
