Beef and Cabbage Stew
- 1 lb lean beef round, cubed
- 1 12 cups beef broth
- 1 12 cups shredded cabbage
- 2 small potatoes, sliced
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 large carrot, sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 12 cup dry white wine
- 14 cup catsup
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 1 12 teaspoons cider vinegar
- 1 12 teaspoons dried thyme
- 12 teaspoon dry mustard
- 14 cup uncooked long grain rice
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 14 cup cold water
- salt and pepper
- Combine all ingredients except rice, cornstarch, water, salt and pepper; cover and cook on low 6-8 hours, adding rice during last 2 hours.
- Turn heat to high and cook 10 minutes; stir in combined cornstarch and water, stirring 2-3 minutes.
- Season to taste with salt and pepper.
