Savory Brussels Sprouts

  1. Wash and trim all discolored leaves from the Brussels sprouts; cut a tiny "X" into the base of the stem to help them cook evenly.
  2. In a medium pan, steam Brussels sprouts until tender, about 15 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan or the microwave melt half the butter and stir in the mustard, lemon juice and pepper to taste.
  4. In a frying pan melt the remaining butter and saute the bread crumbs, stirring constantly until golden.
  5. To serve, transfer sprouts to a heated dish.
  6. Pour butter mixture over the sprouts and mix lightly.
  7. Sprinkle with bread crumbs and lemon zest.
