Yule Kaka
- 2 c. milk, scalded
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. crushed cardamom seed
- 1 tsp. ground cardamom
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 pkg. granular yeast
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 2 beaten eggs
- 4 c. flour
- 1 c. white raisins
- 2 c. mixed cherries and pineapple (glace), cut
- 4 c. flour
- Combine milk, shortening, sugar and spices.
- Cool to lukewarm. Add yeast, softened, in warm water.
- Add eggs and mix well.
- Add flour; beat well.
- Add fruits and remaining flour.
- Let rise until double in bulk. Punch down and knead lightly.
- Form into 3 loaves. Grease pans.
- Let rise until double in bulk.
- Bake in 350u0b0 oven for 45 minutes.
- While warm, brush with melted butter.
