Asparagus Casserole

  1. Arrange asparagus in greased 13x9 dish.
  2. Melt 3 tablespoons butter and whisk in flour until smooth.
  3. Cook, whisking constantly about 1 minute.
  4. Add milk and cook, whisking constantly, until thick and bubbly.
  5. Stir in 1/2 cup cheese, pepper, and salt and pour over asparagus.
  6. Stir together remaining 1/4 cup cheese, breadcrumbs, 1 tablespoon melted butter, and paprika and sprinkle evenly over casserole.
  7. Bake at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes or until heated.
