Ginger Scented Meatballs with Glutinous Rice

  1. Wash the rice and soak in plenty of water for about 3 hours.
  2. Drain in a sieve well.
  3. Mince the shiitake mushroom and the leek, and set aside.
  4. Put the ingredients into a mixing bowl and combine until they develop into a sticky paste.
  5. Form the mixture from step 3 into 12 equal sized meatballs.
  6. Spread out the rice from step 1, and roll the meatballs around to coat them evenly.
  7. Line a bamboo steamer basket with lettuce leaves (you can omit this) and spread out the rice coated meatballs.
  8. Steam over high heat for 20 minutes to finish.
  9. These meatballs are very good with spicy mustard, vinegar, or soy sauce.
