Tamale Dough
- 2 cup of Maseca for tamales
- 2 cup lukewarm broth or water
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2/3 cup lard or vegetable shorting
- combine maseca, baking powder and slat in a bowl
- work broth or water with your fingers to make soft moist dough.
- in small bowl, beat lard or shorting until fluffy,
- Add mass and beat until dough has a spongy texture
- prepare tamales with desired filling.
- makes enough dough for about 16 small tamales.
