Buttermilk French Toast And Variations Recipe
- 2 x Large eggs
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 6 slc hard bread - (to 8)
- In a shallow bowl, combine Large eggs, buttermilk, salt and sugar.
- Dip bread slices into egg mix.
- Coat both sides well.
- heat butter or possibly oleo in a large skillet and brown on each side.
- Serve with syrup, honey or possibly cinnamon and sugar.
- This recipe yields 4 servings.
- Variations:o Hawaiian French Toast: Substitute 1/2 c. pineapple juice for lowfat milk.
- Serve with sliced bananas, toasted coconut and powdered sugar.
- o Honey Spice French Toast: Add in 1 tsp.
- cinnamon and 3 Tbsp.
- honey to egg and lowfat milk mix.
- Serve with cinnamon and sugar.
- o Orange French Toast: Substitute orange juice for lowfat milk and add in 1 tsp.

- Serve with powdered sugar.

- Turn and fry till golden.

- o Nutty French Toast: Before turning, sprinkle finely minced nuts on each piece.
- Turn and serve nut-side up.
- o Royal French Toast: Layer 2 to 3 pcs of cooked French toast, fresh or possibly frzn sliced peaches or possibly sliced strawberries, lowfat sour cream or possibly cottage cheese, nuts and powdered sugar.
