Snickerdoodles
- 1 cup soft shortening
- 1 12 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 34 cups sifted gold medal flour
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons sugar, for coating
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon, coating for coating
- Mix the shortening, sugar and eggs together thoroughly.
- Preheat oven to 350F
- Sift the flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt together and stir in shortening mixture.
- Chill dough.
- Mix together 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon in a small bowl,.
- Roll dough into small balls the size of a small walnut.
- Roll in sugar/cinnamon mixture.
- Place about 2-inches apart on ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake until lightly browned -- but still soft, about 10-12 minutes.
- (These cookies puff at first, then flatten out with crinkled tops).
