Snickerdoodles

  1. Mix the shortening, sugar and eggs together thoroughly.
  2. Preheat oven to 350F
  3. Sift the flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt together and stir in shortening mixture.
  4. Chill dough.
  5. Mix together 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon in a small bowl,.
  6. Roll dough into small balls the size of a small walnut.
  7. Roll in sugar/cinnamon mixture.
  8. Place about 2-inches apart on ungreased baking sheet.
  9. Bake until lightly browned -- but still soft, about 10-12 minutes.
  10. (These cookies puff at first, then flatten out with crinkled tops).
