Chinese Barbecue Sauce
- 1/2 tsp Ginger powder
- 1 cup Hoisin sauce
- 1/2 cup Dry sherry
- 1/2 cup Soy sauce
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1/2 tsp Chinese five spice powder
- 2 tsp Tomato puree
- 1/2 cup Pineapple juice
- 3 clove Garlic (minced)
- Add all ingredients to a saucepan and bring slowly to the boil.
- Simmer for 5 minutes.
- The sauce can be thickened to required consistency with cornflower & water mixed to a paste or by simmering reduction.
- Make it thicker for basting, thicker still for a dip
- Use as a marinade, basting sauce or dip
- Excellent with chicken, turkey and pork
