Cauliflower and Ham in Cheese Sauce
- 1 head Cauliflower
- 1 cup Diced Ham
- 4 Tablespoons Butter
- 4 Tablespoons Flour (I Used Half White And Half Whole Wheat)
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoons Pepper
- 1 dash Cayenne Pepper
- 1 dash Spike Or Other Herb Blend
- 2 cups Milk
- 2 cups Shredded Cheese
- Steam the cauliflower for 1015 minutes until done, then remove from heat and set aside in the steamer pan.
- In a large thick pan, saute the ham pieces until slightly browned.
- Remove from the pan and use that same pan to make the cheese sauce.
- Melt butter over low heat.
- Stir in flour, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, and Spike (if using).
- Blend to make a paste.
- Cook for a few minutes, stirring, so the flour wont taste raw.
- Slowly stir in the milk, stirring after each addition, to combine.
- When through adding milk, add cheese, stirring to combine.
- Turn off heat.
- Stir in ham, mix well.
- Stir in cauliflower, mix lightly.
- Serve immediately.
- Serves 4-6.
