Owens Sausage And Hot Apple Sandwiches
- 1 lb. Owens regular sausage
- 3 large tart apples, cored and chopped in a medium-large dice
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
- 12 slices bread
- soft margarine to spread on bread
- Crumble sausage and saute until just gray.
- Drain excess oil and add apples, onions and cinnamon and continue to saute until the onions are translucent and the apples are just tender.
- Heat a pocket sandwich maker until hot.
- Spread margarine on one side of four slices of bread.
- Place two slices of bread on the sandwich maker, margarine side down, and put 1/6th of the sausage apple mixture on each slice.
- Top each with another slice of bread, margarine side out.
- Seal and cook until nicely browned.
- Continue until bread and mixture are gone.
- This should make 12 half sandwiches.
