Sesame Shrimp Toasts

  1. Drain shrimp well on paper towels.
  2. Mince shrimp finely.
  3. In a bowl, mix shrimp with ginger, garlic and cornstarch.
  4. Lightly whisk egg white with a fork (just enough to make frothy) and add to shrimp.
  5. Stir in Five Spice Powder, salt and pepper; mix well.
  6. Press shrimp mixture evenly and firmly onto slices of bread.
  7. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and press on firmly.
  8. Heat 3/4 inch oil in a large skillet.
  9. Lower slices of bread, shrimp-side down, into hot oil and fry 2 to 3 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Keep slices immersed in oil.
  11. Drain on paper towels.
  12. Cut into fingers and garnish with green onion daisies.
