Cake Doughnuts

  1. Combine dry ingredients.
  2. Stir in remaining flour.
  3. Turn the dough onto generously floured cloth-covered board; roll around lightly to coat with flour.
  4. Gently roll 38 inch thick Cut with floured doughnut cutter.
  5. Slide doughnuts into hot oil with wide spatula.
  6. Turn doughnuts as they rise to surface.
  7. Fry until golden brown, 1 to 1 1/2 minutes on each side.
  8. Remove carefully from oil (do not prick surfaces); drain.
