Spiced Pomegranate Punch

  1. Cut pomegranates in half.
  2. Extract juice from seeds with a citrus juicer or reamer.
  3. Strain into a medium saucepan (you should have about 2 1/2 cups).
  4. Add cider, 2 cups water, the cinnamon stick, and ginger.
  5. Cook over high heat until simmering, 5 to 6 minutes.
  6. Reduce heat; gently simmer 15 minutes.
  7. Skim any foam that rises to the surface.
  8. Discard cinnamon and ginger.
  9. Stir in orange juice.
  10. Serve warm, garnished with orange zest.
