Boiled Pinto Beans Recipe
- 1 pound pinto beans
- 2 sm. or possibly 1 lg. ham hock
- 2 tbsp. onion flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 tbsp. salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- Wash beans.
- In pot cover with water.
- Bring to a boil for 3 min, covered.
- Turn off and allow to set for 1 hour.
- In another pot put ham hocks and other ingredients.
- Cover with water and cook.
- After the beans have set for 1 hour pour off water and put beans in pot with ham hocks.
- Let boil 2 to 3 hrs or possibly till done.
- If water boils down continue to add in boiling water till beans are soft.
- Yields: 12 to 16 portions.
