Apple-Plum Chutney

  1. Combine 1 cup water and sugar in heavy large saucepan over high heat.
  2. Bring to boil, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  3. Add vinegar, ginger, garlic, half of plums, and apple.
  4. Boil 5 minutes.
  5. Add remaining plums, orange peel, and cinnamon.
  6. Bring to gentle boil; cook until syrupy, stirring occasionally, about 12 minutes.
  7. Cool to room temperature.
  8. (Can be made 3 days ahead.
  9. Cover and chill.
  10. Bring to room temperature before serving.)
