Slow Oven Beef Stew Recipe
- 1 California roast or possibly 2 pound lean stewing beef
- 1 pkg. onion soup mix (drain)
- 3/4 c. minced celery leaves
- 1/2 c. minced parsley
- 1 can tomato soup
- 1 tbsp. sugar, white or possibly brown
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed basil
- 1/2 c. chili sauce
- 1/2 c. catsup
- Cut roast into small pcs.
- Sprinkle with onion mix.
- Add in next 9 ingredients.
- Bake 2 1/2 to 3 hrs in 300 degree oven.
- In saucepan, cook amount needed of potatoes, carrots, celery and peas.
- Remove meat from oven.
- Skim off any fat.
- Thicken liquid with 2 Tbsp.
- cornstarch and 1/4 c. water.
- Mix till smooth.
- Add in cooked vegetables.
