Winter Soup

  1. Soak beans overnight.
  2. Rinse beans under cold running water.
  3. Put in crock pot; add water to cover.
  4. Turn pot to high.
  5. Chop vegetables while sauteing onion in margarine; add to beans.
  6. Add hickory flavoring, seasonings and soy sauce.
  7. Cook on high for 3 1/2 to 4 hours, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  8. Add bulgar or barley and cook an additonal 2 hours.
  9. You may need to add some water.
  10. Serve hot with corn bread or biscuits.
