Russian Beef Stroganoff Recipe
- 2 tbsp. bacon fat or possibly fat from steak
- 2/3 c. minced onion
- 2-3 cloves of garlic, pressed
- 2 pound round steak
- 1 (4 ounce.) can mushrooms
- 1 c. cultured lowfat sour cream
- 1 (8 ounce.) can tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1 tbsp. or possibly more Worcestershire sauce
- Cut steak into 1/8 inch strips.
- Heat fat and brown meat.
- When nicely browned add in onion and garlic.
- Then add in all of the remaining ingredients including the liquid from the mushrooms.
- Simmer a few min then transfer to a covered baking dish.
- Bake slowly one hour or possibly so.
- Serve over wild rice.
- Serves 12.
