Glytzista Spiced Ring Donuts
- 12 ounces flour
- 12 cup water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 12 ounces ground almonds
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 12 teaspoon ground cloves
- olive oil (for frying)
- 2 12 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Make the syrup by combining the water, sugar and lemon juice;
- Cook over low heat for 3 minutes, remove from the heat and set aside.
- Combine the flour, 6 tablespoons olive oil, salt and water.
- Work the ingredients together to form a thick and workable dough.
- Roll the dough out into fairly thin strips, about 2.5 cm (1") wide and 10 cm (4") long.
- Seal the two ends of each strip together to form a ring.
- Fry the doughnuts in plenty of hot oil.
- Once they are golden brown, drain on paper towels.
- Dip the doughnuts into the syrup.
- Place on a serving platter and sprinkle with the ground almonds, cinnamon and cloves.
