Gram Kemp'S Chop Suey

  1. Have meat 1/8-inch thick, cut in 1/4 x 1-inch pieces.
  2. Put in hot oil and simmer slowly until nearly tender.
  3. Drain liquid from sprouts and mix with cornstarch, molasses and sauce.
  4. Add to meat to cook 15 minutes longer.
  5. Saute onions in 1/2 of the butter until glassy; saute celery in remaining butter until nearly tender.
  6. Add this to meat.
  7. Cook 5 minutes.
  8. Add sprouts and cook 3 minutes longer.
  9. If Chinese chestnuts are available, slice thinly and add to the sauce.
