Christmas Tree Spritz

• 1 cup shortening
• 34 cup sugar
• 1 egg
• 2 14 cups sifted all-purpose flour
• 18 teaspoon salt
• 14 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 teaspoon extract (vanilla, almond, etc.)
• food coloring (optional)
• colored crystal sugar (optional)
• candy sprinkles (optional)

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
2. Cream shortening, adding sugar gradually.
3. Add egg, sifted dry ingredients, flavoring, and a few drops of food coloring, if using.
4. Mix well.
5. Fill a cookie press and form cookies onto ungreased cookie sheets, Decorate as desired.
6. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
