Patacones (Basic)
- 1 Green Plantain
- 1 Oil
- 1 Salt
- Peel and cut plantain in small rounds of about 1/8 in thickness
- Place plantain slices into a small amount of oil (I use medium-low) and cook both sides lightly.
- You want them semisoft on the top and bottom.
- Take the slices from the oil and smash them flat.
- I generally use some wax paper for this part to keep them from sticking to surfaces.
- Place them back into the oil and cook until light brown.
- Remove & let any oil drain on a paper towl.
- Add salt while still hot.
- If you wish, add garlic powder or other tasty spice/spice mixture.
