One Great Lasagna
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 (28 ounce) can chopped tomatoes
- 1 (5 1/2 ounce) can tomato paste
- 1 12 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 12 teaspoon oregano
- 18 teaspoon black pepper
- 14 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 cup chopped green pepper
- 1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
- 1 lb cream-style cottage cheese
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 18 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 egg, beaten
- 8 ounces cooked lasagna noodles
- 1 lb sliced mozzarella cheese
- 12 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- Meat Sauce:.
- Saute onion and garlic in oil until onion is transparent.
- Add meat and brown.
- Add remaining ingredients.
- Cover and simmer for 2 hours.
- Lasagna:.
- Mix cottage cheese, salt, pepper and egg.
- Pour a thin layer of sauce into a greased 9x13" dish.
- Alternate with layers of half the noodles, half cottage cheese mixture, half mozzeralla cheese and half sauce.
- Repeat ending with sauce.
- To serve now:.
- Sprinkle with parmesan cheese.Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
- Let stand 15 minutes and sprinkle with parsley.
- To freeze:.
- Omit parmesan cheese.
- Freeze unbaked.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.
- Sprinkle with cheese and parsley.
- Let sit 15 minutes before serving.
