Greek Powdered Sugar Cookies Recipe
- 1 pound unsalted butter (4 sticks)
- 1/2 c. powdered sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1/3 c. Ouzo (Masticha)
- 2 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1 c. baked, minced almonds
- 3 1/2 c. flour
- First boil almonds till skins puffy.
- Remove skins.
- Then chop.
- Bake them for 5 min till brown.
- Let cold.
- Mix butter and sugar for 5 min, add in egg yolks and beat for another 5 - 10 min.
- Then add in 1/3 c. of Ouzo to sugar and butter mix while still mixing.
- While which is mixing, mix flour and baking soda in a large bowl.
- Stop mixer and add in nuts.
- Mix.
- Add in sugar and butter to flour and mix.
- Knead with hands.
- (You may need to add in another 1/2 c.
- flour!)
- Ready to shape cookies.
- Cook for 1/2 hour at 350 degrees.
- Makes about 4 dozen.
