Barbecue Ribs with Cola Sauce
- 2 racks spare ribs or baby back ribs, trimmed
- 1/2 tablespoon salt
- 1/2 tablespoon pepper
- 1 1/2 tablespoons onion powder
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 tablespoon sweet paprika
- 1/8 cup white vinegar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups ketchup
- 1/2 tablespoon freshly grated garlic
- 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce, or more if you like it spicy
- 8 ounces flat regular cola
- Mix all of your dry rub ingredients together and rub onto ribs.
- Cover and refrigerate for 1-2 hours.
- Arrange ribs in a single layer in a large roasting pan.
- Cover tightly with foil and cook at 325 F for 2 to 2 1/2 hours (depending on the size of your ribs), until just tender.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sauce ingredients and cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until thickened.
- Preheat a grill to medium-high and add ribs.
- Baste ribs generously with the sauce and grill them until glazed with crispy edges.
- Cut into quarters and serve warm with any extra sauce on the side.
