Greek Honey Puffs
- 2 Tbsp. dry yeast
- 3 1/4 c. flour
- 1 c. tepid water
- 1 c. tepid milk
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 Tbsp. oil
- oil (for frying)
- honey
- cinnamon
- chopped walnuts
- Dissolve yeast in tepid water.
- Combine the rest of the ingredients in a large bowl.
- Add the yeast mixture to ingredients and beat at high speed until a smooth dough is formed.
- Cover and place in warm place until batter rises 2 to 3 times original amount.
- When dough has risen, moisten 1 hand with water and take a handful of dough.
- Squeeze your fist until a small ball is formed and with a spoon, ease it into the hot oil.
- Fry a few at a time.
- Remove when brown with slotted spoon; drain on paper towel. Transfer to serving dish and pour hot honey over balls.
- Can sprinkle with cinnamon and nuts.
