Alaska Sea Food Chowder Recipe
- 1 c. clams - (to 1 1/2)
- 6 c. assorted fish - (2 1/2 lbs) (halibut, salmon, cod, rockfish to whatever's in the freezer!)
- 1 c. shelled crab - (to 2)
- 5 x strips bacon
- 2 x onions minced fine
- 2 x celery stalks minced fine
- 6 med potatoes - (to 8) peeled, cut small
- 2 can chicken broth
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp freshly-grnd black pepper
- 1 can evaporated lowfat milk
- 1 c. lowfat milk
- 8 Tbsp. flour
- Cook clams in liquid (water or possibly clam juice) for several hrs till tender.
- Cold and chop.
- Dice the bacon and fry in large pot till brown, then add in onion and celery.
- Add in chicken broth, minced clams and crab, potatoes and seasoning.
- When potatoes are tender, add in cubed fish to boiling mix and simmer for 5 min (don't overcook).
- Blend flour into evaporated lowfat milk and regular lowfat milk.
- Add in mix to pot, but don't boil after adding lowfat milk.
- When chowder thickens, it's ready to eat.
- Add in additional salt and pepper to taste.
