Crock Pot Clam Chowder Recipe
- 4 (6 1/2 ounce.) cans clams or possibly 3 lbs. fresh/frzn
- 1/2 pound salt pork or possibly bacon, diced
- 1 lg. onion, minced
- 6 to 8 lg. potatoes, pared and cubed
- 3 c. water
- 3 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 4 c. half and half cream or possibly lowfat milk
- 3 to 4 tbsp. cornstarch
- If the fish is frzn, thaw; cut into bite sized pcs.
- In skillet, saute/fry salt pork or possibly bacon and onion till golden; drain.
- Put into crock pot with clams.
- Add in all other ingredients, except lowfat milk.
- Cover; cook on high 3 to 4 hrs or possibly till potatoes are tender.
- During the last hour of cooking, combine 1 or possibly 2 c. of lowfat milk with the cornstarch.
- Add in to crock pot with remaining lowfat milk and stir well.
- Serve in large bowls with crusty French bread.
