Ham Bean Chowder Recipe

  1. Wash beans.
  2. Cover beans with water in 6 qt saucepot; bring to boil.
  3. Cover, boil 2 min longer.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Let beans soak 1 hour.
  6. Drain, reserving liquid.
  7. Return beans to pot.
  8. Add in 4 c. reserved liquid, meat, vegetables, seasonings and chicken broth combined with sufficient water to measure 6 c.. Bring to boil; simmer 3 hrs or possibly till beans are done and meat will fall from bone easily.
  9. Remove meat, bay leaf and cloves.
  10. Cut meat off bone, return to soup.
  11. Skim off fat.
  12. Add in cheese and stir till melted.
  13. Garnish with parsley.
  14. Good crockpot recipe.
