Fresh Strawberry Cake
- 12 cup butter
- 13 cup shortening
- 1 34 cups sugar
- 12 cup fresh strawberries, crushed
- 1 (6 ounce) package strawberry gelatin
- 2 23 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
- 3 12 teaspoons baking powder
- 34 teaspoon salt
- 1 13 cups sweet milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
- 1 (16 ounce) box confectioners' sugar, sifted
- 18 cup butter, softened
- 12 cup fresh strawberries, crushed
- Cream butter, shortening, and sugar until fluffy.
- Add strawberries and gelatin; beat well.
- Sift together dry ingredients and add alternately with milk.
- Add vanilla and beat well.
- Fold in egg whites.
- Turn into 3 greased and floured 9-inch cake pans.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.
- When cake is cool, blend the confectioner's sugar, softened butter, and strawberries.
- Beat thoroughly and spread between layers.
