Taco Casserole

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef and onion.
  3. When meat is browned and onions softened, drain off any excess fat.
  4. Add the taco seasoning, water and tomato sauce.
  5. Simmer on low for 10 minutes.
  6. In a lightly greased 11x7 inch casserole dish place 5 taco shells that you have broken up into pieces.
  7. Spoon half of the meat mixture over the shells and sprinkle 1 cup of the cheese over the top of that.
  8. Break up the remaining 5 shells and place them over the top, then top that with remaining beef mixture and the last cup of cheese.
  9. Bake uncovered at 350 F for approximately 20-25 minutes or until cheese is melted and the casserole is hot all the way through.
  10. Serves 4 to 6.
