My Grandmother's Gingerbread
- 1/4 cup fat
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 cup sugar
- 2/3 tsp. cloves
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 2-1/2 cup flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 cup cold water
- Cream fat and sugar.
- Add eggs and molasses.
- Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with water.
- Beat 2 minutes.
- Pour into shallow pan lined with wax paper.
- Bake 25 minutes in a moderate oven (350F).
