Flax Seed Cracker Bread

  1. Heat oven to 375F.
  2. Combine whole wheat flour, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt in large bowl.
  3. Mix in butter with fork just until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add buttermilk; stir just until flour is moistened.
  5. Stir in flax seed.
  6. Place dough on lightly floured surface; knead 3 to 5 times until smooth.
  7. Divide dough in half.
  8. Roll out each half with floured rolling pin or pat each half with floured fingers into 13x11-inch rectangle on greased baking sheets.
  9. Prick all over with fork.
  10. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Cool completely.
  12. Break into pieces.
